High-Capacity Bi-Parting Swing Gate Automation for Residential and Commercial Sites

The Viking Access G-5 Dual Swing Gate Operator Kit is a 24 VDC linear actuator system designed to automate two residential, commercial, industrial, or restricted-access vehicular swing gate leaves. Each G-5 operator supports gate capacities ranging from 2,000 lb at 10 ft to 800 lb at 18 ft, with a 100% continuous-duty cycle for high-use entrances.

The system uses two G-5 operators with a dual Electronic Control Unit (ECU) that coordinates both gate leaves from a single control system. Viking's VFlex controls provide adjustable speed, obstruction detection, automatic closing, programmable overlap delay for sequencing bi-parting gates, mechanical limits, battery backup, and onboard LCD diagnostics.

Two configurations are available. Choose the G5NX-D for the two G-5 operators and dual-gate controller, or select the VA-G5DLK when the installation also requires Viking's VA-ACKSWING radio and monitored photoeye accessory package.

Installation and Safety Considerations

The published gate capacity applies to each individual gate leaf and changes according to leaf length. A 2,000 lb rating applies to a 10 ft gate leaf, while the maximum published capacity at 18 ft is 800 lb. Gate construction, hinge condition, mounting geometry, wind load, and freedom of movement should be evaluated for both leaves before installation.

The dual ECU includes the primary control and secondary module required to operate two G-5 motors together. For gates with overlapping leaves, the programmable overlap setting allows the control system to delay the appropriate leaf during opening and closing so the gates operate in the correct sequence.

UL 325 requires monitored external entrapment protection in applicable entrapment zones. The VA-G5DLK includes one XP30-10K monitored photocell, while the G5NX-D does not include the VA-ACKSWING accessory package. Additional monitored protection may be required depending on the layout and entrapment zones on each side of the dual gate.
