A 12 VDC linear actuator with a 24-inch stroke moves gates up to 16 feet and 800 pounds, including ornamental iron, chain link, and ranch-style gates. Farm-style gates up to 20 feet are supported at 250 pounds maximum. Gate travel runs approximately 12 seconds.

The system charges a sealed 12V battery through the included 115V AC adapter, rated at 20 VDC / 1.2A, supporting up to 575 operating cycles per day. During a power outage, the battery sustains operation for several weeks at fewer than 20 cycles per day before requiring attention.

Installation Notes

A 12V sealed maintenance-free battery, 30 Ah minimum, is required and not included. Wet cell batteries must not be installed inside the control box. The included adapter cable is 10 feet; extendable to 100 feet with 18 AWG wire or up to 250 feet with 16 AWG wire using extension pigtails (PN 630038). The adapter must be installed indoors or in a rain-tight enclosure. A surge protector and GFCI circuit are recommended on all 115V AC installations. If your installation involves two gates on a shared entry, the dual gate model (020519 solar / 020517 AC) drives both leaves from one control board. Gate condition matters before installation - the Ranger HD 1 cannot compensate for a gate that binds, sags, or requires a wheel for support.
