Description

Two-Loop Vehicle Detection with Directional Logic and Diagnostics

The EMX ULT-MVP-2 Dual Channel Vehicle Loop Detector, also referred to as the ULTRA-MVP-2, provides vehicle detection for two separate inductive loops from a single compact detector. It is designed for automatic gates, access control systems, parking applications, and traffic-control installations where two loop functions need to be monitored independently.

Each channel can provide vehicle presence or pulse operation, while AB Logic allows the detector to determine vehicle direction by monitoring the order in which the two loops are crossed. EMX's Detect-on-Stop (DOS) mode can also be selected when detection should occur only after a vehicle comes to a complete stop over the loop.

The built-in ULTRAMETER display simplifies setup by showing the sensitivity level required to detect a vehicle and can also help identify loop frequency faults and interference. Ten sensitivity levels, four selectable frequencies, Automatic Sensitivity Boost, and normal or infinite presence settings provide flexibility for different gate and traffic-control applications.

Key Features

  • Two independent vehicle detection channels
  • AB Logic provides directional vehicle detection using two loops
  • Wide multi-voltage input simplifies replacement and installation
  • ULTRAMETER display assists with sensitivity setup and troubleshooting
  • 10 selectable sensitivity levels
  • Four loop frequency settings help reduce crosstalk between nearby loops
  • Detect-on-Stop (DOS) can require a vehicle to stop before activating the relay
  • Automatic Sensitivity Boost helps maintain detection of high-bed vehicles
  • Selectable pulse or presence operation for each channel
  • Selectable normal 5-minute or infinite presence mode
  • Automatic tuning and environmental compensation
  • Loop circuitry includes surge protection
  • Compact socket-mount design for installation inside gate operator and control enclosures
  • Compatible with optional 11-pin DIN rail socket or wiring harness

Conclusion

The EMX ULT-MVP-2 is well suited to gate installations that need two vehicle loops controlled from one detector, such as exit and safety loops, paired traffic-control loops, or directional vehicle detection. Its wide input-voltage range, dual-channel operation, ULTRAMETER diagnostics, and adjustable detection modes also make it useful when replacing older loop detectors with differing power requirements.

For reversing or safety loop applications, configure the detector according to the gate operator requirements. EMX specifically advises against using Detect-on-Stop or normal 5-minute presence mode for reversing loops, where continuous vehicle presence detection is required.
