The SOS 14 Siren-Operated Emergency Access Sensor provides automatic gate access for approaching emergency vehicles without requiring a code, key, transmitter, or other access credential. When the unit detects a Yelp siren for approximately three seconds, it sends a dry-contact open signal to the connected gate operator, allowing the gate to open for first responders.
The SOS 14 replaces the previous SOS 12 model and incorporates several installation improvements, including revised microphone placement on the underside of the enclosure and improved conduit spacing. Its NEMA 4 outdoor-rated enclosure helps protect the electronics from weather and environmental exposure.
Adjustable siren-detection sensitivity allows the installer to account for site noise and mounting conditions. Relay timing can also be configured so the gate remains open momentarily or for up to one hour. An optional remote microphone extension can be used when the main sensor cannot be positioned for ideal siren reception.
The SOS 14 connects to the gate operator's normally open and common input terminals. It provides the open command only and does not directly power or drive the gate motor.
The SOS 14 provides a direct way for fire, ambulance, and other emergency vehicles to gain access through an automated gate using the siren already on the responding vehicle. Its dry-contact output allows it to integrate with compatible gate operators, while the updated enclosure, microphone placement, adjustable sensitivity, and configurable relay timing make it more adaptable to outdoor perimeter entrances.
Because the SOS 14 sends an open command to the gate operator rather than operating the gate motor itself, the connected gate system must be properly configured for emergency access and safe gate operation.
