The FAAC 844ER Z16 is a 115 VAC rack-and-pinion slide gate operator designed for commercial, condominium, industrial, and restricted-access vehicular gates. The Z16 configuration supports gates weighing up to 4,000 lb and measuring up to 131 ft long, with a gate speed of approximately 38 ft/min and a 70% duty cycle.

A non-reversing gearmotor mechanically holds the gate when the motor is stopped, eliminating the need for a separate electric lock in typical applications. The 844ER combines a twin-disk oil-bath clutch with an integrated encoder to provide adjustable force control and obstacle detection, while the included FAAC 780D control board provides programmable operating modes, deceleration, braking, partial opening, monitored safety inputs, and onboard display programming.

The operator includes the Z16 drive pinion, 780D control board, magnetic limit switch magnets, and manual release key. The steel gear rack that mounts to the gate is sold separately.
